Represent

How cool is it to think of ourselves as created in the image of God?  Have you taken the time to let that sink in over the last few days?  Let me say it again, you are made in the image of God.

Since we are made in His image then our job is to be a mirror and reflect God.  We should mimic our Creator.  When we do this we make an invisible God very visible.  That just blows me away.

As these ideas and Truths begin to resonate with each of you, you begin to walk with purpose because Jesus is living inside of you, and Jesus’ calling for you to “go” rings clear you wonder what this really looks like day to day.  So, what does mimicking God and taking Jesus out into the world look like?

Here is the question.  What do we know about God?

God is hard working, so we should work hard.

Psalms 139-14.png

God is joyful, eager, and proactive, so we should be cheerful and offer to help out anyway we can.  Maybe that means showing up at work ten minutes early and offering to help out in ways outside of your job description.

God is honest and true, so we should be full of integrity.  That means doing what is right even when no one is around.

Think about it; you and I are God’s representatives.  And let’s face it, there have been countless crappy examples of Christians in history.  But you do not have to be like that.  You can be a priest at your office or at your school or on the job site.  Remember, Jesus lives in you.

I heard an HR manager, who also happens to very active in their church, say they tried to hire people from their church when ever they could.  This person also said the owner of the company was not a follower of Jesus.  But that business owner asked the HR manager to continue hiring people from “that church you go to” because they are the best employees the company has.

Paul said it best when he reminded some of his friends, “Stay calm, mind your own business, do your job.  You should be living in a way that will command respect of outsiders and not lying around sponging off your friends.” (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12)

The more like Jesus we are, and the like the image of God we are, the more people we see God’s glory through our lives!  We represent Jesus.  Now go!  Represent!
