Glory on Display

Have you ever been outside early in the morning at that moment when everything seems to wake up?  It is a strange time in a way; one minute it is almost silent and then the next it is like a symphony.  The world is waking up.  I don’t catch it all the time, but when I do, I am floored by the majesty of the moment!

I think of God standing in the heavens like a conductor of a great symphony.  There is a tap on the conductors music stand and then…in perfect harmony it is on display.  The glory and splendor of the heavens and earth, God’s creation, on full display!  Almost like God is showing off.  And I find myself in awe, lost in His majesty, overwhelmed by His glory.

You may be wondering why I am up most mornings to catch this wondrous sight.  We have “backyard chickens” (that is the hip thing to call them these days).  Make no mistake, I am not a chicken farmer.  No, these girls are all named, by my wife, and treated like spoiled pets.  I try to time my morning chicken check with the beginning moments of the sunrise.  Every once in a while I catch the full show!

Psalms 19-1.png

There have been several times, when I catch myself standing in the middle of my backyard lost in the moment.  The sky is ablaze with oranges and reds almost melting across the sky.  The moon is still holding it position as a reminder of the reflecting glory of God.  Birds fill the background with the most unique soundtrack.  “The heavens declare the GLORY of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”(Psalms 19:1)

As I try not to spill my coffee, my heart is filled with joy!  A new song rings out and there is a shout of praise in my soul!  The GLORY of God is all around!  Psalms 40:3 says, “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.”  Rejoice today my friends!  God’s glory is all around you!
