Allowing the biblical truth of eternity to settle into our soul is very powerful. A shift begins. Focus changes. Our outlook realigns. A constant look at “me” moves to a view of the world all around. The filters on our lenses change. No longer a “me” filter, but now a “Jesus” filter.
As we grow in Christ much begins to change. It’s amazing. Unfortunately, this miraculous change does not sit well with the enemy, Satan. We are in a battle - a war! Once we begin to fight, we experience another miracle. The power of the Holy Spirit! Now we are not only seeing the world through the “Jesus” filter; we also sense His presence all around us!
Not to sound selfish, but sometimes (heck, most of the time!) I need something else. The something else is - friends. Christ following, prayerful, Spirit led friends! It takes regular interaction, hanging out, with fellow believers to renew our minds and refresh our spirits! C.S Lewis said this about his group of buddies, BFFs, “What I owe to them is incalculable. Is there any pleasure on earth as great as a great circle of Christian friends by a good fire?”
Proverbs 27:9 and 17 speak of the value of friends. “Just as lotions and fragrance give sensual delight, a sweet friendship refreshes the soul.” And “you use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another.” (MSG)
